Tooth Fairies and Snuggles

We have a couple news breaking items to report here at the Crowley household:

Liam lost tooth #2 last night! He was so proud when he handed it over and even more excited to put it under his pillow, so he could get $20 and a present; you know, like he did with the first tooth. (You know this can only be trouble.) The good news is Liam didn't come running into our room at 4am today to let us know that the Tooth Fairy came, but the bad news is he was crying when he realized she only left him $2 and NO present. Well, as you can imagine, we had to have a little chat about how even though sometimes we want more than we get, we do need to be thankful for what we got otherwise we're being greedy. Liam rallied really quickly and in the end was happy and even said "thank you for my $2 Tooth Fairy". I'm hoping to post a pic soon...his mouth has a very large gaping whole now.

As for the "snuggle" update, our little baby Drew has begun snuggling before bed over the last few weeks. It's AWESOME! He actually wants us to hold him and rest his head on our shoulder until it's time for bed. This is a major bonding milestone for us and we couldn't be happier. And another little update on Drew; he's really speaking a lot of words at this point. We've totally gotten over the possibility of him having any speech delay from a vocabulary standpoint. We're at the stage where he's trying to say everything, but we can't exactly understand it all yet...soon I'm sure.

Well, that's it for us. Hope everyone is still enjoying the summer. Kindergarten starts for Liam on Monday. Stay tuned for more on that topic!

The Tooth Fairy Makes a Stop at the Crowley's

I can't believe this didn't make the blog earlier, but Liam lost his first tooth on Wednesday, July 23rd! It fell on the floor before either Daddy or Liam realized it was out. Then when Daddy and Liam started to talk about when he last had it, they realized they should probably look for it around the area where they were eating dinner. They actually found it! So exciting for Liam. He had been preparing for this moment, so he was excited to leave it for the Tooth Fairy.

Low and behold, she came! Liam was so excited when he realized (at 4am!) that she had come, that he ran into our room to announce the delivery! He had every reason to be excited as the Tooth Fairy must have been low on cash and had to make a last minute stop at the ATM, thus leaving little Liam with a $20 gift under his pillow in exchange for his little tooth. She apparently didn't have any smaller bills. Or is it that maybe teeth in Danville are worth more...I don't know, but I'm pretty sure Liam will NEVER see that kind of payment again for any future teeth. :-)

Tubes Be Gone!!!

Well, yesterday, Liam was a big boy and underwent minor surgery to have his ear tubes removed. Unfortunately, they had to give him a general and put him under for the surgery. He did a great job in the morning, understanding he couldn't eat or drink before the Dr. appointment and telling Drew he couldn't go to school for the day. And, he was a big boy in the unusual waiting room that looked nothing like his ENT's normal waiting room. He did fine all the way until they needed to check his vitals and then wisk him away for the surgery. At that point, he was screaming for his Mom and Dad with arms reached out. After a few moments, the nurse told us that the Doc had started talking the Liam and calming him down and Liam stopped screaming...just warms the cockles of your heart...NOT! Michael and I were both crying; it's so upsetting to see your child reach for you and you can't help them. Anyway, fortunately, it was a minor surgery and Liam came through with flying colors. We were able to see him about 30 minutes later and while he was cranky, he was doing just fine.

We spent the next several hours just relaxing at home, playing games, watching movies and playing on Mom's computer. By the time Grandma Kia got to our house with baby Drew, Liam was in great shape and the kids continued their ongoing restling match.

Now let's hope those ears heal up nicely AND we don't start getting ear infections in the winter. It would be nice to put this issue behind us.
