Well, yesterday, Liam was a big boy and underwent minor surgery to have his ear tubes removed. Unfortunately, they had to give him a general and put him under for the surgery. He did a great job in the morning, understanding he couldn't eat or drink before the Dr. appointment and telling Drew he couldn't go to school for the day. And, he was a big boy in the unusual waiting room that looked nothing like his ENT's normal waiting room. He did fine all the way until they needed to check his vitals and then wisk him away for the surgery. At that point, he was screaming for his Mom and Dad with arms reached out. After a few moments, the nurse told us that the Doc had started talking the Liam and calming him down and Liam stopped screaming...just warms the cockles of your heart...NOT! Michael and I were both crying; it's so upsetting to see your child reach for you and you can't help them. Anyway, fortunately, it was a minor surgery and Liam came through with flying colors. We were able to see him about 30 minutes later and while he was cranky, he was doing just fine.
We spent the next several hours just relaxing at home, playing games, watching movies and playing on Mom's computer. By the time Grandma Kia got to our house with baby Drew, Liam was in great shape and the kids continued their ongoing restling match.
Now let's hope those ears heal up nicely AND we don't start getting ear infections in the winter. It would be nice to put this issue behind us.
